Video: ABA Animal Law Committee Volunteers for BAD RAP

By Jasmin Singer — September 27, 2010

As hard as it is to believe, when Mariann and I visited San Francisco this past August, we did do a little more than simply sample the incredible vegan cuisine. Mariann was there as part of the Animal Law Committee for the TIPS section of the American Bar Association (she’s the current Animal Law Committee Chair). As part of the its public service project program, the Committee joined forces with BAD RAP, an incredible pit bull advocacy organization. During our trip, BAD RAP (that’s, “Bay Area Doglovers Responsible about Pit bulls”) was putting on a pit bull vaccination clinic — where they go into lower-income communities and offer  pit bull vaccinations, spay and neuter vouchers, collars and leashes, and training advice — all for free. The Animal Law Committee volunteered at this life-saving event — and I tagged along to shoot some footage.

The result was a fun, educational, and resource-intensive event where dozens and dozens of precious pit bulls were given some extra care, as they gave us humans extra-warm fuzzies. BAD RAP — a group that aims to secure “the future of the American Pit bull Terrier as a cherished family companion,” has moved mountains in terms of bringing the true goodness of these perfect beings to light and working to bash the unfounded stereotypes that they don’t deserve. As the human companions to our little love-bug pit, Rose, Mariann and I are experts in understanding that all pit bulls want is a belly rub and cuddle time. Dog bless BAD RAP for bringing free resources and information to the Bay Area and the worldwide web. Let’s go to the videotape:
