Episode 233: “People are fed by the food industry, which pays no attention to health, and are treated by the health industry, which pays no attention to food.”

By Jasmin and Mariann — June 28, 2014

Welcome to the 233rd episode of Our Hen House, featuring Colleen Patrick-Goudreau [transcript], with a special review by Ari Solomon

On today’s episode, we discuss vegan weddings, a big Broadway show with an even bigger animal message, and what we regret — and why. We’ll also chat about the homophobia in NYC’s horse-drawn carriage industry, why Bill Maher is fantastic, and we’ll give you more than your fair share of “Rising Anxieties,” too.

Joining us today is Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, who will be telling us about the latest in the “30 Day Vegan Challenge” and will also read us an excerpt from “Running, Eating, Thinking.”

Then, Ari Solomon will be back, this time with a review of the new animal rights-themed novel, The Awareness, by Gene Stone and John Doyle.

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.

Wonderfully informative episode Hens :) Although I don't know of any specifically vegan restaurants in the Florida Keys, I was alerted to Deer Run B&B by Kristin Lajeunesse (Will Travel For Vegan Food) which is completely vegan. They're actually having a cooking seminar down there with Brian Manowitz, The Vegan Black Metal Chef. Now that's a guest I'd love to hear on OHH.

What a great podcast! As someone who has just woken up and become a vegan I really enjoyed listening to you ladies. Very intelligent and entertaining! I'm looking forward to listening to more.
