Episode 75: “A time comes when silence is betrayal.”

By Jasmin and Mariann — June 18, 2011

Welcome to the 75th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Myq Kaplan.

In today’s episode, we will tell you about Mariann’s talk on farm animal law for the activist, Jasmin’s new article on the connections between gay rights and animal rights, and the amazing dinner we had at a vegan pop-up restaurant here in NYC.

It’s true. He’s funny. And vegan.

Joining us today is vegan comedian Myq Kaplan, who will tell is what it was like to be in the top 5 of “Last Comic Standing,” and will give us the skinny on his CD, “Vegan Mind Meld.”

As a special added section of today’s podcast, Our Hen House’s reviewer, Kyle Knies, will let us in on how his recent volunteer vacation to India was, including stories about working with some animals there.

For our review, we’ll let you know what we thought of flaxmilk. (That’s right – flax milk!)

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.

This week’s news items include:

“A time comes when silence is betrayal.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

I wished to listen to your podcast in a family setting & share with others but your use of F--K made me stop. I realize it's use is very common place but it does not honor your cause of animal rights. Please consider how more powerful your words will be when everyone can listen. Thank you!

Thanks for reporting on that "Stray Cat Strut" article. That is the shelter where I help out and clean. Jan is an amazing and selfless woman, she works as a lawyer and spend pretty much all her money and the rest of her free time on taking care of the kitties. She funds the shelter pretty much by herself without donations. It is a struggle even without having to deal with the govt. She is currently attempting to gain non-profit status.
