Episode 138: “The least I can do is speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.”

By Jasmin and Mariann — September 01, 2012

Welcome to the 138th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Ginny Messina — The Vegan R.D.

In today’s episode, we discuss the vegan hair salon we visited this past week (The Parlour) in the incredibly charming Portland neighborhood of St. John’s. We also talk about logging, and the deep impact that comes with actually seeing exploitation — be it of the planet or of animals — when it comes to inspiring people (including us!) to create change.

Joining us today is registered dietician, Ginny Messina, half of the dynamo behind the book Vegan for Life. Ginny will discuss with us some misconceptions about vegan nutrition, and she’ll explain why — even in her field of expertise — the animals always come first.

For our review, we’ll share our thoughts on the animated film, The Lorax, which talks about a world where trees no longer exist. You will not want to miss our unique take on this flick, and you may be surprised by our feelings about it.

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
