    Thank you Liz for this list and your reasoning behind these choices. I have only read two of the five and look forward to checking out the other three, especially "Wringer." One of my favorites has always been "When Elephants Weep; The Emotional Lives of Animals" by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, read it years ago as a teenager and it really struck a cord in me....There are some wonderful passages from that book that I share with people still today.
