Welcome to the 178th episode of Our Hen House, Official Honoree of the 2013 Webby Awards. Today’s episode features Carter Dillard (ALDF) and Ella Nemcova (Regal Vegan).

On today’s episode, Jasmin will report back on the NYC Veggie Prom, and we’ll let you know what transpired during her unexpected turn as Prom Queen Nominee. We’ll tell you about a new Broadway show we saw, try to figure out why it made Mariann weep copiously, and draw some important social justice themes from its central message. We’ll chat about Bill Maher, how we feel about his newest catch phrase, “but I’m not wrong,” and we’ll ruminate on people who knowingly don’t live by their ethics. Plus, we’ll discuss yet another scenario of meat-eaters feeling judged when being exposed to the realities of animal exploitation. Rising anxieties, anyone?

Joining us today are two special guests: Carter Dillard, Director of Litigation for the Animal Legal Defense Fund, and Ella Nemcova, the force behind Regal Vegan and its signature product, Faux Gras. Carter and Ella are going to discuss with us a fascinating lawsuit in which Hudson Valley Foie Gras’ nonsensical claim that it is the “humane choice” will be challenged, and they will explain why the court has already held that Ella is the right person to bring this lawsuit.

treelineFor our review, we’ll give you a vicarious taste of Treeline Cheese, the newest vegan cheese to hit the market and our palate.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
