Episode 277: “We cannot have peace among men whose hearts find delight in killing any living creature.”

By Jasmin and Mariann — May 02, 2015

PicMonkey CollageWelcome to the 277th episode of Our Hen House, featuring interviews with Keith Allison and Amber Canavan, plus a review by Alessandra Seiter.

In today’s episode, we discuss why our vinyl record collection just became even more special; why Mariann is as busy as a bee grading (and where animal rights comes into play there); and, of course, we’ll update you on the latest and greatest from the world of “Rising Anxieties!”

We have two very special feature interviews today. Both are with activists who recently found themselves in hot water thanks to their efforts to change the world for animals. You’ll hear from Keith Allison, a schoolteacher in Ohio who was removed from his job after a local dairy farmer complained about a post he put on Facebook — on his own time –that showed and explained local calf crates, and urged people to drink plant-based milk. You’ll also hear from Amber Canavan, an activist who has been indicted on felony charges for her part in an animal cruelty investigation into Hudson Valley Foie Gras.

Then, for our review, we’ll be joined by Our Hen House’s Media Coordinator Alessandra Seiter (of the blog Chickpeas and Change), who will get us hungry vegans up to speed on the latest additions from one of the best vegan meat companies around: Upton’s Naturals.

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
