Today starts the Africa Animal Welfare Action Conference (AAWA), taking place in Nairobi. Our friends over at environmental and animal activism group, Brighter Green, will be attending. Executive Director of Brighter Green, Mia MacDonald, will be presenting on a panel entitled “Tackling Animal Welfare in Africa for Development.” According to Brighter Green, “The panel will explore the adoption of industrial animal agriculture in Africa, looking at Ethiopia in particular, and outline the possibilities to create more humane, sustainable food production systems.”
Brighter Green recently produced a short video examining Ethiopia’s booming livestock industry. The video is a must-see — as well as a must-use resource — for anybody interested in international farm animal issues (which should really be everybody), as well as academics, and, of course, environmentalists.
