Dear Flock,
Just before we left California, we visited the fabulous Carrie Forrest, of Carrie On Vegan. You probably also read Carrie’s piece for our Thought for Food column, “How Cancer Grew My Activist Spirit,” which is quite beautiful. Carrie and her husband Alan — who is hilarious and insightful — will be among the guests on this weekend’s podcast (Episode 155). Mariann and I visited Carrie and Alan’s house for breakfast (I know, you want to kill me), and Carrie kindly let me record her as she made our spectacular smoothie. Below is the video I put together of the smoothie making festivities, followed by the recipe, and beneath that, you’ll find your chance to win a free download of Carrie’s new recipe app (which I LOVE), Vegan Delish.#PRIVATE#
Lucky us!!

Now, as promised, here’s your chance to win a download of Carrie’s app, Vegan Delish (you’ll also have the opportunity to win one on this weekend’s podcast). Because of Carrie’s generosity, 4 of you flock members will have the chance to win. All you have to do to be eligible to win is follow Our Hen House on Twitter (@ourhenhouse), and then comment below telling us your favorite concoction to make in your blender. It could be a smoothie, a soup, a sauce, or anything else. Be sure to include your Twitter handle in your comment. We’ll randomly select a winner on December 31 at midnight, and we’ll let you know during the week of January 1, 2013!
I also highly recommend you follow Carrie On Vegan on Twitter (@carrieonvegan). Her recipes are healthy and scrumptious, and her commentary is always thought-provoking.
Hello from Lake Charles, LA, by the way! My fingers keep trying to type “KALE Charles.” Vegan-induced dyslexia, most likely…
