Thanks to animal law professor David Cassuto (from Animal Blawg) for keeping us in the loop of all things animal rights — in Brazil. That said, the Second World Conference on Bioethics and Animal Rights is coming up this August, in Salvador. (David will be speaking, which alone makes the trip worthwhile.)
I’d recommend visiting David’s blog entry about the conference for more information. Here’s a tidbit from the conference organizers:
It is a great honour for Salvador to host the Congress. The conference´s goal is to transform this city as a regional centre and facilitator for bioethics and animal rights. After the experience of the First World Conference on Bioethics and Animal Rights, organizers would like to provide a greater atmosphere for debate and discussion on the future on Earth. Therefore, the II World Conference on Bioethics and Animal Rights has as its theme – perspectives for life on a changing planet. The Earth is the habitat for all living beings and it will be at the center of discussions. The purpose will be creating an open space for the exchange of experiences between the various participating countries. We would like to share experiences and new cultures in the various international legal systems. As well, being a space for new forms of collaboration between researchers from around the world.
The theme being “life on a changing planet,” submissions of abstracts or travel grant applications may be emailed to congresso@abolicionismoanimal.org.br.
