Dear Flock: Host a Dinner Party for OHH and Bring Jasmin to Your Community!

by Visiting Animal

Dear Flock,
JL Fields here – proud OHH board member and author of the newly published Vegan Pressure Cooking. I’ve been busy on the road this year, on an action-packed and inspiring book tour. Inspiring because I have had the chance to meet so many incredible people doing hard and important work in their community to change the world for animals. Some of the most special moments have been when devotees of Our Hen House come up to me to say they learned about OHH through my blog or they learned about my work and activism through OHH. It’s made my heart soar! I love that so many of you are just like me: a fan of the OHH podcast, TV show, and of OHH’s Executive Director, my friend Jasmin Singer.
In addition to being an OHH podcast fan myself, I’m also a longtime supporter of this organization, founded by Jasmin and her equally inspiring wife Mariann Sullivan, back in January, 2010. Since the early days, I’ve watched – as you have – as OHH has taken the vegan world by storm, and has been at the helm of creating changemakers (like me) who all care deeply about the same thing: changing the world for animals.
And since I’m on the board, and since I’m a supporter – and since I’m always on the lookout for new ways to infiltrate various communities with the power of the hens – I’m so thrilled today to tell you that Jasmin is going on a mini-tour! Excitingly, you now have the opportunity to help raise funds and awareness for Our Hen House by hosting a dinner party for Our Hen House, featuring Jasmin!
#PRIVATE#
We all know that one of the most important ways we can support OHH is to become a flock member, and that’s why you (like me) are one! (And, needless to say: THANK YOU. We all appreciate your support so very much. We could not do what we do without your support.) And since you are already a flock member, why not share your love for OHH?
We’ve created a super simple form for anyone interested in having Jasmin come to their community. Do note that although Jasmin loves traveling more than anyone, and will never turn down the possibility of meeting like-minded “animal people,” the bottom line here is to raise awareness and funds for OHH! So we are asking that you please invite your friends (we need to make sure there will be at least 10 of them) and commit to raising funds (we’re asking for a commitment of at least $2,000 – which you can get through entry fees, raffles, or just from one donor … you decide!).
Oh, and one more very exciting thing: You might already know that Jasmin’s memoir about food and activism is coming out in February through the imprint of Penguin Random House, Berkley? Well, if you do indeed host a dinner party for OHH, Jasmin is willing to read an exclusive excerpt there, if you’d like! Talk about making you feel special…
Please take a moment to review the tour form, consider how you and our community can support this effort to change the world for animals, and fill it out! This is such a simple and fun way to support a stellar nonprofit organization and have Jasmin come to your house to meet your friends! But, beware, she’ll likely have her mic with her… because, well, she’s Jasmin.
In solidarity,
JL
