Welcome to the 126th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Scott Jurek, with guest Jennifer Hintenberger.
In today’s episode, we’ll report back on Jasmin’s appearance on The Dr. Oz Show, where she dropped the V-Bomb. And we’ll chat with kettlebell champion and passionate vegan, Jennifer Hintenberger, whom we met last weekend during our trip to Niagara Falls where we spoke at the 1st-ever Niagara VegFest (and join us next week for a full rundown of the amazing event).
Our feature interview today is with world-renowned ultramarathon champion, Scott Jurek, whose new book, Eat and Run, details his unlikely journey to ultramarathon greatness, and explains how his veganism played a vital role in getting him there. Scott will chat with us about all of that, as well as how he came to embrace veganism, and what advice he has for vegans who might be interested in taking up running, and runners who might be interested in taking up veganism!
For our review, and in preparation for our big move to the West Coast, we will give you our top ten tips for vegan road trips.
On today’s episode, you’ll also have the opportunity to win one of five one-day admission passes to The Seed: A Vegan Experience, which is coming to NYC next weekend, June 16 and 17.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
This week’s news items include:
- “Ohio Governor Signs New Rules on Exotic Animals” from Dayton Daily News

Today’s episode is being sponsored by The Seed: A Vegan Experience. In addition to enjoying food samplings from the best of NYC’s vegan restaurant scene, attendees will meet and mingle with fellow animal-conscious individuals, while exploring 25,000 square feet of veganism. Guests will enjoy a variety of vegan-inspired activities including cooking demonstrations, films (with director meet-and-greet opportunities), and presentations by various prominent vegan experts. We’ll be speaking there on Saturday, June 16, at noon, and we can’t wait. Hope to see you there!
