Welcome to the 127th episode of Our Hen House, featuring a rundown of our time speaking at the Niagara VegFest. Guests include Keri Cronin, Laurie Morrison, Lauren Corman, Taylor Book, Dylan Powell, and Doug McNish.
In today’s episode, we give you the full rundown of our inspiring trip to Niagara Falls to speak at the very first Niagara VegFest, held in St. Catherine’s, Ontario. In addition to gabbing about the tourist scene we momentarily entrenched ourselves in, and the vegan goodies we ate along the way, we’ll chat with organizers Keri Cronin and Laurie Morrison all about how this unbelievably successful venture came to happen. We’ll talk to Lauren Corman and Taylor Book about the world-famous Critical Animal Studies program at St. Catherine’s own Brock University. We’ll catch up with The Vegan Police’s Dylan Powell about the monthly events he organizes with Niagara Action for Animals, and he’ll tell us about the speakers he regularly brings into the community’s vegan potlucks, folks from various other social justice movements, and he will chat with us about why it’s important to form coalitions. We’ll also have a delicious conversation with vegan Chef Doug McNish, author of Eat Raw, Eat Well, who also spoke at the VegFest, about how he inserts the animal rights messages into his delectable dishes.
For our review, we’ll give you the skinny on our favorite product at the Niagara VegFest, Health Nut, purveyor of raw vegan cheese and nut butters that will blow your mind. We’ll tell you how you, too, can get in on the goodness.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
