Welcome to Our Hen House!

Welcome to the 157th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Kate Jacoby and Rich Landau from Philadelphia’s gourmet vegan restaurant, Vedge; Queer Vegan Food’s Sarah E. Brown and cleansing coach Courtney Pool; social worker and entrepreneur Lisa Siroti from NJ’s Papa Ganache; and a special interview with Jasmin’s mother, Roni Omohundro, and  grandmother, Sherrey Reim Glickman.
In today’s episode, our fourth and final one from the Our Hen House Cross Country Road Trip Numero Dos, we come to you from Staunton, VA, Maryland, Gettysburg, PA, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and then, at long last, we land at home in New York City!
Today we bring to you a very special line-up of movers and shakers whom we met along this last leg of our journey! They include Kate Jacoby and Rich Landau from Philadelphia’s gourmet vegan restaurant, Vedge; Queer Vegan Food’s Sarah E. Brown and cleansing coach Courtney Pool; social worker and entrepreneur Lisa Siroti, who is the force behind the unique NJ-based vegan bakery, Papa Ganache – which provides alternative therapeutic interventions for youth by utilizing the inner workings of a vegan bakery; and a special interview with two of our favorite animal advocates, Jasmin’s mother, Roni Omohundro, and her 88-year-old grandmother, Sherrey Reim Glickman, who will talk about her own journey to ditching fur, and how becoming wheelchair-bound resulted in her being able to identify with animals in a whole new light.

Jasmin Singer with her grandmother, Sherrey Reim Glickman, who is featured on today's show.

Throughout this episode, we will discuss everything from thinking outside the vegan bubble, to recognizing that animal rights activists frequently pop up in the unlikeliest of places, to how it feels to finally step foot back in Manhattan after being away for 6 months, to why Walla Walla onions have a permanent place in our hearts.
Since we couldn’t resist, for our review today, we’ll give you an insider look into Philadelphia’s Vedge, which is reconnecting with the power and potential of the vegetable, and redefining vegan cuisine as we know it. Whether or not you’re near the City of Brotherly Love, this review will awaken your taste buds, and inspire you to visit the produce section of your grocery store, and fast.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
