Podcast: Play in new window

285358_10151302341735892_1428369436_nWelcome to the 161st episode of Our Hen House, featuring Dylan Powell.

Today, we share with you some big news: the hens got hitched. Hey, that’s us! That’s right, we tied the knot, City Hall style, and today we’ll tell you all about it – from the June Cleaver-inspired dress Jasmin wore, to the vegan brunch we had in Chinatown following our nuptials, to the fruit we gorged on that afternoon while watching “Battlestar Gallactica” in our PJ’s – the perfect wedding day. Later on today’s episode, Sally Tamarkin, one of our witnesses and dearest friends, will give you her take on our marriage, letting you in on some of the quirkier moments of our big – yet small – yet huge day.

Also today, we will discuss the importance of the “vegan” label, and how, for some folks, when they create “fall-back rules,” they tend to make those rules the norm, as opposed to the exception. Why not just give it your all?

Joining us today is Niagara-based activist Dylan Powell, who will get us up to speed on some important developments in the campaign against Marineland’s cruelty to animals. Regardless of whether you’re in the Niagara region, you will want to know about Marineland’s efforts to silence activists, and we’ll find out how we can each get involved in doing our part to put an end to this egregious animal cruelty. Dylan, who has joined us before on Our Hen House, is one of the brightest guys we know, and you won’t want to miss this first-hand account of Marineland cruelty.

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights. For a list of the news items we discuss in today episode, and then some, take a look at the breaking news ticker at the top of ourhenhouse.org, and also check out our list of archived news items.
