Welcome to the 220th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Esther the Wonder Pig (actually, featuring her dads — Derek Walter and Steve Jenkins [transcript]).
In today’s episode, we squawk about why more high-end restaurants don’t have vegan options, and we share our thoughts on restaurants that are going “part-time vegan.” We will give you the inside scoop on the latest filming of the new Our Hen House TV show, and we’ll whine about our most recent encounter with an outspoken ex-vegan. We’ll chat about people who say that they don’t feel everyone needs to go vegan, and we’ll ruminate on people who eat meat and label themselves animal rights activists. There will be plenty to cover in “Rising Anxieties” today, too, as well as a very touching dedication.
Joining us today are Derek Walter and Steve Jenkins, daddies of the famed Esther the Wonder Pig. Derek and Steve will talk to us all about how this lovely pig entered their lives and then turned it upside-down forever, opening their eyes and hearts, and, as a result, touching hundreds of thousands of strangers with the message of compassion and kindness.
For our review, Mariann and I will share with you our thoughts on Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soaps. The man behind these cruelty-free, 18-in-1 soaps is completely fascinating, and the product has a cult following for a reason.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
