Welcome to the 23rd podcast episode of Our Hen House – a place to find our way to change the world for animals – featuring Eastern Shore Sanctuary’s Miriam Jones and Aram Polster.
On today’s show, we are podcasting from Vermont – where we are visiting Eastern Shore Sanctuary and all of the beautiful rescued beings who inhabit it. Joining us today will be the amazing folks who run the sanctuary, Miriam Jones – who is also the co-founder – and Aram Polster. Miriam and Aram will let us in on what sanctuary life is really like, including lending their advice to people who might wish to run their own sanctuary someday, and sharing their thoughts on the connections between the exploitation inherent in the dairy and egg industries with feminist theory.
In our news section, we will discuss a Washington Post article asking the question: “Do Animals Have Rights?” We’ll also talk about an article in the New York Times Magazine making the connection between violence to animals and violence to humans, but leaving out one crucial fact. Then we’ll discuss the Humane Society of the United States’ complaint about an Indiana egg company.
Finally, we will go over our most recent Facebook survey, which asked: Who are your favorite vegan celebrities?
