Podcast: Play in new window

PicMonkey CollageWelcome to the 247th episode of Our Hen House, featuring mini-interviews with Philadelphia activists Rachel Atcheson and Corey Waters; the guests of Lantern Books‘ 15th anniversary party — Martin Rowe, Kara Davis, Cathy Berlot, Christine Frietchen, and Kimatni Rawlins; and a review by Ethan Ciment and Michael Suchman of the new cookbook The Lusty Vegan.
On today’s episode, we come to you from the City of Brotherly Love, where we’re presenting a talk about veganism for the Temple University Vegan Action Network. We’ll give you a taste of the yummy, cruelty-free offerings that Philadelphia has to offer — sampling more than our share of grub at some of the best restaurants in the country (including our favorite in the world — Vedge!). We’ll also be talking animal activism with locals Rachel Atcheson (of The Humane League) and Corey Waters (of the Temple Vegan Action Network).
Then, we’re back in Brooklyn for Lantern Books’ 15-year anniversary party, which doubled as the official book launch for the anthology, Running Eating Thinking: A Vegan Anthology. To that end, we’ll be chatting with Martin Rowe, Kara Davis, Cathy Berlot, Christine Frietchen, and Kimatni Rawlins.
For our review, the guys from Vegan Mos — that’s Ethan Ciment and Michael Suchman — will be giving us their take on the new cookbook, The Lusty Vegan: A Cookbook and Lifestyle Manifesto for Vegans and the People Who Love Them, by Ayinde Howell and Zoe Eisenberg.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
