Welcome to the 311th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Jon Bockman and Michael Harren. As always, the award-winning, weekly Our Hen House podcast is hosted by us — Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan.
On today’s episode, we squawk about the reasons why The Nutcracker is problematic when it comes to animal rights, and we debunk the claim that lettuce is worse for the environment than bacon.
Today we will be speaking with Jon Bockman, the Executive Director of Animal Charity Evaluators. Jon will give us a glimpse into the world of using statistical research to change the world for animals, and will engage with us in a multifaceted dialogue with us about various viewpoints on “effective altruism” as it relates to animal rights.
Then, we’ll check in with vegan musician Michael Harren, who will give us an update on his artist-in-residency at Tamerlaine Farm Sanctuary (check out his first update on Episode 305 of the podcast!).
All that, vegan banter, and of course, “Rising Anxieties,” too, so hold onto your seitan!
