Welcome to the 46th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Heather and Jenny Goldberg, “The Spork Girls.”
In today’s episode, Mariann will share with you her latest reinvention – a big one, which will impact both our lives as well as Our Hen House. You don’t want to miss this. We’ll also give you the skinny on some insanely delicious vegan grub we grabbed this week in New York City. (Think: Gracious Gourmand and Candle 79.)
Speaking of delicious food, joining us today are the Spork girls – that’s Jenny and Heather Goldberg, from Sporkonline.com. The two sisters will tell us everything you ever wanted to know about vegan food — from kitchen essentials that you really must have, to some soothing, hearty foods that perfectly complement the beginning of colder weather. The Spork girls will also tell us about their amazing new online cooking class, which has already enlightened and inspired us.
For our review section, we will talk about Sue Coe’s harrowing and gorgeous book, Pit’s Letter, which is written from the point of view of a hapless pit bull with a very big heart.
All that, some vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
This week’s news items include:
- “Study: Veggies, Still Really Good for You” from Time Magazine
- “Activist Relies on Islam to Fight for Animal Rights” from The New York Times
- “Is Their Pest Your Clean Conscience?” from The New York Times
