Podcast: Play in new window

393

Welcome to the 71st episode of Our Hen House, featuring Joshua Katcher.

In today’s episode, we’ll tell you about the vegan happenings in our world, including an incredible clothing swap that provided us with an entire new wardrobe, our long overdue night at the prom, and our fabulous night out at Farm Sanctuary‘s 25th Anniversary Gala, where Jasmin played ace reporter. We’ll also tell you about a video we filmed all about knitting, without the wool of course, and we’ll contemplate our upcoming trip to sunny Florida, where Mariann will take part in some bar association animal law goings-on, and steamy New Orleans, where we will both be speaking at the long-awaited NOLA Veggie Fest.

Brave Gentle Man

Joining us today is Joshua Katcher of the Discerning Brute, who will tell us all about his soon-to-be-launched new venture, Brave Gentle Man. Joshua will fill us in on everything fashionable in the vegan world, and will share some exciting news about new vegan trends and new vegan products for men, including bow ties! (Though is there anyone out there who looks as good in a bow tie as Joshua does?) He will also discuss the latest in fur activism and anti-fur message wear, including the cutting edge work from “Pinnacle: Reinvent the Icon.”

For our review, Our Hen House’s Hollywood correspondent, Ari Solomon, will join us for his take on a new, and moving, HBO production, Saving Pelican 895.

All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.

This week’s news items include:

  • Review: Forks over Knives, by Roger Ebert from the Chicago Sun-Times
  • Fur Flies at Fendi as Seoul Puts Ban on Catwalk Show from the Daily Mail
  • Tampa’s Big Cat Rescue Will Provide Permanent Home to Tony the Truck Stop Tiger from the Examiner

“Faced with the choice between changing one’s mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.” John Kenneth Galbraith
