Welcome to the 81st episode of Our Hen House, featuring Jackie Horrick of Alternative Outfitters, and Ari Solomon of A Scent of Scandal Candles.
In today’s episode, we come to you from Los Angeles, California, where we’re speaking at the National Animal Rights Conference, and enjoying the vegan and activist scene here in Tinseltown. We’ll give you some inside stories of the conference, including new insights we gleaned from it, and we’ll also tell you all about the vegan food we experienced while visiting the West Coast (including Stuff I Eat, which we visited with Lynn Chen of The Actor’s Diet).
Joining us today is Jackie Horrick, owner of the uber-popular vegan store, Alternative Outfitters. Though largely based online, Alternative Outfitters has a fantastic storefront in Pasadena. Today, we visit the store and chat with Jackie all about the amazing activism she regularly participates in here in L.A., and we also talk to her about what it’s like running a vegan business. Joining us for that interview and for our review is Our Hen House’s Hollywood correspondent, Ari Solomon.
For our review, we’ll chat with Ari about the Veggie Grill movement. The Veggie Grill is a huge fast-food chain of healthy, vegan food here in Southern California, but they have plans on expanding everywhere. We’ll let you in on that, and on what you have to order the next time you find yourself at a Veggie Grill.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
