Welcome to the 94th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Dr. Michael Greger and Sally Tamarkin.
In today’s episode, we share our thoughts on everything from the woman who won a contest with the reward of allowing her to visit a dairy farm, to Jasmin’s hopes and wishes for her birthday, to the magic of the Diva Cup (don’t worry — it’s just a quick mention).
Joining us today is Dr. Michael Greger, a physician, author, and internationally recognized speaker on a number of important public health issues. Dr. Greger will share with us the story of how his grandmother acted as the catalyst for him to pursue a life in medicine, and he will tell us why a healthy, plant-based diet is the only way forward. He will also tell us all about his incredibly exciting new comprehensive resource that you wont want to miss, Nutritionfacts.org.
Also joining us today in Our Hen House is Sally Tamarkin, our new intern extraordinaire. Sally, who recently fell from the planet Wherehaveyoubeenallourlives, will help us out with a segment we like to call our “New Vegan Series,” where she will let us in on her recent transition to veganism and how she plans to merge that with her longtime activism. Sally will stick around for our review, giving us her take on the movie, Babe — including the good, the bad, and the exploitative.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights.
This week’s news items include:
- “Slaughter of Horses Goes On, Just Not in U.S.” from the New York Times
