If you’re like me, you cringe every time you see someone wearing a zoo of anally or vaginally electrocuted animals, searching frantically in your pocket for a leaflet to hand them. (If you’re like Mariann, you opt instead to just call them bad names.)
A new company that is saving animals by “harnessing the power of enterprise” is Imposter — a faux fur company with products that are as “real” looking as they are really compassionate. Not only does Imposter donate a portion of its proceeds to animal rights groups, but they have created a certification program that guarantees no animals were harmed in the production of their products.
Since standard faux fur can easily be mislabeled — and maybe isn’t really that “faux” after all — we can rest assured with Imposter: Their faux is the real (fake) deal, and their strong ethics are gaining both noteworthy press and celebrity support.
Even if faux fur is not your thing, it’s important to remember that real fur is a real big “fashion item” for a lot of people — though god knows why … . I live in Soho, where fur is as rampant as is my disdain. It’s reassuring to know that Imposter is working to mainstream the message and provide a totally ethical (and stylish) alternative to one of the most egregiously cruel products out there.
