Flock Doc: Activate Your Pleasure Center! (BONUS: Giveaway of “The Lusty Vegan”)

by Visiting Animal October 3, 2014
by Visiting Animal

Dear Flock,
Sometimes, laughter is the best medicine! I think you’ll laugh — and love — this advice from the authors of the new book The Lusty Vegan: A Cookbook and Relationship Manifesto for Vegans and the People who Love Them — Ayinde Howell and Zoe Eisenberg. Even if you don’t need the drive, you can still activate your pleasure center with their flavor tips!
And stay tuned to the OHH podcast tomorrow — October 4, 2014, Episode #247 — for a very special insider look at this cookbook, as reviewed by the guys behind Vegan Mos, Ethan Ciment and Michael Suchman.
Peace and Pleasure,
Anne
P.S. Flock members should read on for the opportunity to win a copy of The Lusty Vegan all to themselves!

by Ayinde Howell and Zoe Eisenberg
An aphrodisiac is nothing if you can’t prepare it correctly. This poses the question, does the passion come from the asparagus or the hands making it? Being able to cook is the oldest aphrodisiac in the book, appealing on the most primal level. However, even if you are challenged in the culinary department, some easy tips like great produce and quality ingredients can go a long way towards a titillating home-cooked meal, and a sex drive that will be firing tonight and tomorrow.
1. Pick fresh foods. Fresh foods are more nutrient rich than their canned counterparts, which can be laden with sodium and preservatives – neither of which will leave you feeling sexy. Try adding more dark leafy greens and fresh fruits to your diet. These picks have tons of soluble fiber which clears out your arteries by pushing cholesterol through, improving your blood’s circulation to your various body parts –all of your body parts.
2. Add some heat. Hot peppers contain capsaicin, which revs your metabolism, and increases blood flow to all the right places (wink, wink) providing some natural stimulation. Throw some red pepper flakes in tonight’s pasta or add a few diced jalapeños to your stir-fry. You’re welcome.
3. Punch up the flavor. Get familiar with the herb kingdom. Adding fresh herb accents to your creations will bring out the most desired flavor, amplifying the mmm factor. From start to finish, fresh tasty foods activate your pleasure center,  inducing oral pleasure from the first bite.
