Dear Flock,
Did you see that today on OHH, I announced the brand spankin’ new website badges we now offer? Snazzy, eh? #PRIVATE#Well, darling flock, might I point your attention to the banners designed specifically for the flock? I’m hoping (HOPINGHOPINGHOPING!) that those of you with a website or a blog will add one to your website! I particularly fancy this one:
There are others, too! Just scroll to the bottom of our promote page, and voila! Where your OHH pride on your virtual sleeve for all to see. Thank you in advance! (And a huge massive thank you to Laurie Johnston over at Two Trick Pony for generously creating these gorgeous badges!)
I have a fun giveaway for you today! Last week, Mariann and I interviewed Israeli activist Yossi Wolfson — one of the founders of Anonymous for Animal Rights. His interview will air on our show in a few weeks. Before we left, Yossi handed me some very cool stickers. Check them out:
I’m excited to offer to one lucky OHH flock member these 4 stickers to add to your collection! (Don’t be shy; we know you have a sticker collection. You’re vegan.) To enter, just email contest [at] ourhenhouse [dot] org, with the subject line saying “Animals Have Rights,” and be sure to include your mailing address. You have one week to enter — so you have until midnight on August 1, 2013. We will randomly select a winner on August 2 (which is, incidentally, the first day of the Farm Sanctuary Hoe Down — which we will be covering for our podcast).
This past weekend, we visited the incomparable Catskill Animal Sanctuary, and spent time with the incredible founder, Kathy Stevens (who was recently on our podcast). Here we are with Kathy:
Everything I expected about this glorious trip turned out to be true. Kathy is brilliant and warm; Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a hopeful and life-altering place; their B&B, “The Homestead,” is ridiculously amazing (GO!); and the animals are cuddly and off-the-charts inspiring. They made me feel hopeful and happy (and when was the last time you heard me say that?!). Though I realize I’m not supposed to choose favorites, a little goat named Stencil worked his way into my heart.

As a very special treat, on our podcast this weekend — in addition to getting an exclusive update from the folks behind Vegucated — Kathy will be telling us some very special animal stories. You won’t want to miss it — trust me. Here’s me interviewing Kathy.

And here’s me interviewing a duck:

(Don’t tell him, but he wasn’t the best conversationalist.)
I love this photo of Kathy and a horse “who bites”:

And here’s a pretty adorable one of Mariann dancing with a goat:

OK, well, before I slip into the role of someone who shows guests slides of their childhood tap shows, I should call it a day (not that my childhood slides are not interesting).
I’ll leave you on this inspiring note: Tonight at the grocery store, I picked up this:

Crappy picture, yes. But that right there is White Chocolate flavored seltzer! I KNOW!!
And here you thought Catskill Animal Sanctuary was inspiring …
(No, but seriously, CAS is a magical place, and you should visit, and support their efforts.)
Thanks for being amazing, by the way.
