Alright, y’all. I know you already know how fabulous the documentary Vegucated is. I have been working very closely with filmmaker Marisa Miller Wolfson for <cough cough> years now. Back when we were tadpoles, #PRIVATE#we used to travel around giving workshops on veganism and activism throughout NYC and beyond. We always tried to keep things fun — adding improv routines to our presentations, sometimes a bit of comedy, and always, always, flinging (thrift store acquired) prizes at the unsuspecting crowd whenever they’d give us the ethical answer. Marisa joined us on our podcast back when Vegucated was first released, and that interview remains one of my faves. I love her — period. And Marisa’s recent guest feature for Our Hen House, entitled “Six Weeks and Counting: Hopes for My Vegan Son” remains one of OHH’s most popular all-time posts.
Which brings me to my point! Would you like your chance to win a copy of Vegucated, flockers? Thought so. We’re giving away a copy of this award-winning film (I mean, have you seen the amount of laurels it has?!) to one lucky Our Hen House flock member. All you have to do to win is tweet or facebook that you’re a flock member for Our Hen House (if you’re tweeting, remember to tag @ourhenhouse), and that you’re excited about your chance to win a copy of Vegucated (tag @vegucated).
Here is a sample tweet (feel free to tweak as you wish, while still providing the pertinent info):
I’m a member of the @OurHenHouse flock, & I’m excited about my chance to win a copy of @Vegucated! Join the flock! http://alturl.com/n3fte
Then, email contest [at] ourhenhouse [dot] org, include your mailing address, and tell us you’ve entered to win Vegucated. You have until midnight EST on Friday, February 15, 2013 to enter. A randomly selected winner will be chosen on February 16, and alerted shortly thereafter.
Oh and hey — did you know that I’m actually in the film? Yep, that’s me in the Candle 79 scene. Way back when Marisa asked me to show up (free food? I’m there!) and give some advice to one of the film’s subjects, Tesla, I had no idea that the movie would soon become world famous. I was also the Creative Consultant on the film, thrillingly. It elates me to know that I had a (very) teeny tiny role in this movie, which is, I think, the absolute best tool out there for “vegucating” our not-yet-enlightened comrades.
Just a reminder, flock members, we have some other pretty sweet deals for you, too. If you’ve been paying attention, you already know what they are, but here’s a refresher:
- Online discount code for vegan shoe store, MooShoes
- Online discount code for The Vegan Store (a.k.a. Pangea)
- Online discount code for Herbivore Clothing
We also regularly offer giveaways and contests, exclusive to you, our flock. So thank you for supporting Our Hen House, and for keeping vegan indie media alive.
