I Desperately Need You to Help Make My Birthday Worth Celebrating. Will You Help Me? Will You Help the Animals?

by Jasmin September 30, 2015
written by Jasmin

jasminandbunny-55f89a97a142dFor the love of bunny! I’m turning 36 in one month!
Your donations to my birthday fundraiser this year will be MATCHED — as will all donations made to Our Hen House between now and the end of the year — thanks to the generosity of our Barnyard Benefactors (an incredible group who we will be squawking about a bit more in the coming days and weeks). As I prepare to turn 36, and as Our Hen House’s 300th consecutive weekly podcast episode prepares to go up on 10/10/2015, I hope you’ll consider making a contribution in honor of those numbers. Or use your own special numbers. I sincerely appreciate every contribution.
There is so much to celebrate right now! In addition to our 300th episode (egad!), my memoir, ALWAYS TOO MUCH AND NEVER ENOUGH, is coming out on February 2, 2016 (through Penguin Random House’s imprint, Berkley). Mariann has a brand new podcast of her own, The Animal Law Podcast (it’s as amazing and brilliant as she is), and I have a new podcast coming too, in which I will finally learn how to cook! OHH has rapidly become a media empire for changing the world for animals, which is also evident by our recent gone-viral video, “Coming Out for Animals,” in which passionate LGBT activists share personal stories of connecting the dots when they embraced animal rights. I directed that video, and my story was just one of many to be featured in it.
As I work on scheming my book tour (I hope to meet many of you!) and on producing the new podcasts that are now (or soon-to-be) part of our media landscape, as the OHH team goes into full-on planning mode for 2016, and as our end of year fundraising now enters full swing, I am left with two overarching thoughts:

  1. I am so very lucky to do this work, and to spend my days and nights shedding light on the many ways we can change the world for animals; and
  2. I need your help, desperately, or OHH’s full potential simply cannot be realized. That is my birthday wish — to strengthen and expand our efforts, which we can only do with your support. And since your donations are being MATCHED DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR, this is the perfect time to open your hearts, and to support this cause.

There is no other organization quite like OHH. You probably already know that. Please help us to change the world for animals.
Thank you so much for believing in Our Hen House. I am so fortunate to be able to do this work to create a new world free of animal suffering. I remain indefatigably positive, and I also remain extremely grateful to you for believing in this vision.

Happy Birthday to me!
