Stanford University’s Persuasive Tech Lab, which is dedicated to creating insight into how computing products can be designed to change people’s beliefs and behaviors, has published a fascinating slideshow examining the “Top 10 Mistakes in Behavior Change.” Using captology — the study of computers as persuasive technologies — the brainy team has created what I’ll unabashedly call a tool for anyone interested in changing the world for animals (not to mention those involved in other social justice issues) to grasp onto for dear life. Take a look at this compelling resource, take copious notes, and then take a gander at the rest of the lab’s innovative projects.
The lab’s director, BJ Fogg, PhD, has a compelling website claiming that by teaching you to create “Tiny Habits,” you can “change your life forever.” Perhaps Dr. Fogg is onto something (I think I’ll join his next free online “course” commencing on January 28). By changing behavior, and effectively encouraging people to change theirs, we can indeed change the world.
Check out the slideshow.
