Perhaps I’m living under a rock, but I just found out about the National Anti-Vivisection Society‘s Art for Animals contest (not to be confused with our Art of the Animal series). I love that this contest exists: People of all ages can submit a piece of art that speaks to NAVS’ mission of promoting “respect and justice for animals through educational programs based on respected ethical and scientific theory and supported by extensive documentation of the cruelty and waste of vivisection.” This year, over 270 images were submitted, and the winners were chosen in June. “Best in Show” was awarded to “The Formulating Frog” by Garrison Dixon (pictured below). It’s refreshing to see a group like NVAS get down and artsy with this awareness-raising art contest.
