Hello Everyone!
This has been quite a week for Our Hen House! First of all, our podcast was named an official Webby Award Honoree for the second time! We’re alongside much bigger (and more funded) podcasts, like HBO’s. So high fives all around to our darling flock and listeners for being so passionate about keeping vegan indie media alive, and for supporting our efforts to change the world for animals. We’re in our sixth year now (and we’ve never missed a week of production), and we’re still going (very) strong (it’s all the plant-based protein). I’m thrilled about our upcoming podcast episodes — beginning this coming weekend with Gene Baur, whose new book — Living the Farm Sanctuary Life — is new this week (Mariann and I are proud to have contributed to it).
We can’t do what we do without your support, so thank you heaps and tons to our flock members for giving us the opportunity to keep our media free for all, and for supporting our programs so whole-heartedly. I’m excited to announce that in addition to the regular flock incentives (exclusive access to additional content, giveaways, and contests; as well as an ethically-produced, vegan-made Our Hen House tote bag; and the possibility of getting an as-seen-on-TV OHH mug, or dedicating a podcast episode), we are now offering our flock the opportunity to join a private Facebook group where y’all can squawk with each other.
In addition to the Our Hen House Facebook page (surely you’re already a fan), the private group comes on the heels of your feedback regarding what you want you for YOUR OHH experience. Late last year, OHH’s Anne Green put together a survey for flock members asking how you want to improve your OHH experience, and many of you mentioned wanting to be able to communicate with one another.

This photo was taken at the recent flock get-together in Cambridge, MA, at the Vegan 02 Cafe. Photo taken by the amazing Mimi, who co-owns this delicious cafe where you NEED to go.
Then, in February, I was lucky enough to meet with a large handful of our Boston-area flock (see the photo on the left — aren’t they all so good-looking?), and pick their brains about the best ways to engage y’all. Our amazing graphic designer, Laurie Johnston — of Two Trick Pony (which I love) — suggested creating a flock FB group, the Boston flockers agreed, and once again I was reminded that this needs to happen. And so, now it has…
If you’re not already a member of the flock, I sincerely hope you will join us (it’s tax-deductible!). We do have a lot of fun, and now we’ll be able to all communicate together. And if you’re already a flock member (thank you!), then read on for more info on how to join the group!
#PRIVATE#

Let me reiterate my gratitude, on behalf of the entire OHH team, for your support. We’re all constantly blown away by the emails we receive from you, and inspired by the work you do in your own communities to change the world for animals, and it humbles and excites me that OHH is a part of your journey.
Now, be part of one another’s journey’s too. Some of you may have already received a Facebook invite to the private group. In case you haven’t, please request permission to join the group today (if you’re a flock member, we’ll immediately approve your request!), and let’s get squawking!

P.S. If you have any trouble joining the group, just send Anne (anne [at] ourhenhouse [dot] org) an email. She’ll get you in!
