Holy flock! Can you hear us squawking, chirping, crowing with delight? Here’s why: As you know, for the first time ever, we at Our Hen House recently held a Donor Challenge, where — thanks to a generous group of supporters known as our Barnyard Benefactors — all of your donations between September 15, 2013 and December 31, 2013 were matched, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. We’re thrilled to let you know that, thanks to you, our Donor Challenge was a huge success! We met (even exceeded!) our goal. A big special thank you to our Barnyard Benefactors for believing in Our Hen House enough to provide the foundational support to allow us to step up our game and bring you bigger and better multimedia resources this year, which will change the world for animals.

Not only that, but (get the smelling salts ready) between 2012 and 2013, our donations increased by 124.32%! Thank you from the bottom of our hen hearts for your unwavering support of our unwavering efforts to constantly grow our multimedia resources and independent media to change the world for animals.

Step up the game we shall! In addition to continuing to produce a new podcast episode each week (this weekend marks our 209th consecutive weekly episode), adding new content to our online magazine every day, and regularly speaking throughout the country (this weekend I’ll be delivering a keynote at A Humane League event), 2014 has so much more in store. This includes:

  • an ebook publishing division, Hen Press, which is coming very soon and will knock your wool-free socks off;

  • a webisode series highlighting brave and remarkable activists, heroes really;

  • and, perhaps most exciting — and not to spill the beans too much — A NEW TV SHOW!!!!! (And that’s all I’ll say about that for now . . . Stay tuned, and I mean literally.)

As a non-profit, your support has been completely vital to our efforts. We are, in fact, listener and reader supported. We work day in and day out to create responsible, accessible, cutting-edge independent media and other resources so that anyone who cares about animals can find a way in to change the world for them.

This month marks Our Hen House’s Four Year Anniversary. As we move into our fifth year of changemaking, we have you to thank. If you’re not already a flock member, we certainly hope you’ll join us. As you can see, it’s such an exciting time to be involved. (Plus, just for joining, we’ll send you the documentary Vegucated, and the anthology Defiant Daughters: 21 Women on Art, Activism, Animals, and the Sexual Politics of Meat. You’ll also get exclusive content, contests, giveaways, and inside scoop from the coop.)

From the bottom of our hen hearts, we thank you.
