Anyone who has ever come to either Mariann or me for advice on what animal advocacy career path they should consider taking, we have pretty much answered like this: “PR.” Here’s why, in a nutshell: If you take any effort made for the betterment of animals — be it grassroots or large-scale — and add good PR, the story can explode. If it’s great PR, the story can also save lives.
So you can see why this caught our eye: “Welcome to Evolotus, a public relations agency working for a better world.” Their website boasts that they will happily work with progressive, privately-owned companies in industries such as animal welfare, leftist politics, and vegetarian foods — and explicitly states that they will not work with anyone having anything to do with exploiting animals. Wow, a company that walks the walk. That’s refreshing …
Seems to me if you have a small (and ethical) company and need help getting it off the ground, Evolotus might be a smart way to go. They do everything from writing and distributing press releases to strategic planning. If you’re not yet sold, the way Evolotus tackled the question “Why PR?” might just seal the deal. (“With an effective PR plan, there may never be a need to pay for advertising.”)
Or, if you are looking for that career path, find your own hook and consider speaking out for animals vis a vis public relations. The ethos that Evolotus brings to their agency could be a good model for yours.
