Isa Moskowitz, author of several thousand bestselling vegan cookbooks (well, six), including Vegan With a Vengeance and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World, has a plan to save the world, one cat tchotchke at a time. According to her insanely popular online forum, The Post-Punk Kitchen, she is collecting cat tchotchkes, not for her knick-knack shelf, but as part of a campaign to save real life kitties. The campaign will “raise awareness and money for Trap, Neuter, Return programs.” Isa continues: “We can end kitty overpopulation in our lifetimes, and your tchotchkes can help! In a few weeks, the project will be revealed in its entirety. Please scour your local Goodwills and thrift stores for this. It will be worth it.”
Though I realize this info is still somewhat vague, and arguably a tad bizarre, we have to trust Isa with this one. I know Isa, and I feel comfortable labeling her the Queen of All Things Great and Vegan. If you missed her feature in The New York Times a few years ago, “Strict Vegan Ethics, Frosted With Hedonism,” you might want to take a look, and you will better understand my assertions. Plus, she confided in me a bit more about the cat tchotchke campaign, and I can say with confidence that your cat tchotchkes, the very ones that are currently collecting dust in your attic or storage unit, will be directly responsible for opening eyes and saving the lives of precious felines. You can stay up to speed on the happenings of this project by registering at ThePPK (which, really, you should do anyway) and following the tchotchke thread.
