Really interesting conference coming up at Wesleyan University. When we blogged about the call for papers, we hoped the conference would produce some interesting research, and it certainly seems to have done so. For those of a scholarly bent, you might want to plan on spending the weekend of February 25-26 in Connecticut thinking about the intersections between speciesism and sexism. Among the notable presenters is Greta Gaard.
It occurred to me that a trip to Connecticut for this conference was a perfect time to visit the feminist/veg restaurant Bloodroot in Bridgeport. Unfortunately, when I visited their website, I saw eggs and cheese on the menu. That seems to be really missing a fundamental feminist connection, since, as we keep saying, the dairy and egg industries are built on the exploitation of the female reproductive system. If you can get past the oppression on the menu, they do have lots of vegan choices.
