A new online journal, entitled Thinking Nature, has issued a call for papers for its first issue. The journal will be co-edited by Ben Woodard, an MA student at the European Graduate School, and Timothy Morton, Professor of English (Literature and the Environment) at UC Davis. They are seeking papers that “address the degree to which philosophy, science, aesthetic, as well as other intellectual approaches adequately (or inadequately) grasp nature whether materially or conceptually.” As a non-academic (or, as a friend of mine likes to say, an acadumbic) I don’t really understand what that entails, but it’s got to be relevant to why we repeatedly get everything wrong about animals. If it speaks to you, and to what you are longing to say, this could be the journal for you! The submissions are due August 31.
