Vegan Mainstream — a marketing firm for vegan businesses, “boldly bringing vegan to a city near you” — has created the first ever vegan blog zine. The “Vstream Zine — A Vegan Blog Reporter,” is smartly designed and available for download in both print and digital forms. It is full of useful info for any vegan food-lover with a computer (which, chances are, is you) — and, happily, also clearly defines which category over 200 vegan blogs fall into — including my favorite category, activism.
In addition to a clear, concise, and fun-to-read listing of vegan blogs — not to mention over 50 pull-out recommendations with lengthier descriptions (Our Hen House is one of them, thank you very much!), the “VStream Zine” also includes articles covering why blogging is important to the movement, how to use technology to keep up with your favorite blogs, and advice on how to both get involved with creating your own vegan blog, and “what it takes to get to the top.”
Cruelty-free brownie points to Vegan Mainstream for putting together this handy, compassionate guide. The tag line for it is “a new zine giving you a pulse on the vegan blog world,” which is accurate, but it’s so much more than that. In some ways, the refreshing zine is a gateway into using the internet to spread the vegan message — which, as is evident from the wild success of popular blogs like Crazy Sexy Life, can change the way people think about animals.
