Since we first created this video, our love for professor, writer, and powerhouse activist James McWilliams has only expanded. I mean, have you seen him on the TV show? A veritable love fest. Because we really can’t get enough of the guy, we’re re-introducing you to James by way of his talk at an event in NYC that we hosted way back in 2011. We think it’s time to get James back on the NYC speaking circuit, too…

Last month [EDITOR’S NOTE: and three years ago…], we brought you a sold-out event here in NYC entitled “The Truth Will Set Them Free: An Evening With James E. McWilliams.” James, of course, is the author of Just Food: Where Locavores Get It Wrong and How We Can Truly Eat Responsibly, as well as a columnist for The Atlantic, The New York Times and Freakonomics. (If you didn’t hear his interview on our podcast [EDITOR’S NOTE: now one of a couple!], get to that.) Needless to say, “The Truth Will Set Them Free” sold-out within 2 days of being announced, and I can see why. Not only did every participant get a delectable vegan doughnut, thanks to our generous sponsors, Dun-Well Doughnuts (these doughnuts are INSANE [EDITOR’S NOTE: yep, still are]!), but James — who came to animal rights by way of environmentalism — gave a memorable, informative, impassioned, and refreshing talk.
As promised, you can now view the (abridged) version of this one-of-a-kind talk by one of our heroes, James McWilliams:
Special thanks to Dun-Well Doughnuts!
And, for old time sake (and since we love the design so much), here was the original poster:
